Keynote Speakers

Francisco Chinesta

Francisco Chinesta is currently full Professor of computational physics at ENSAM Institute of Technology (Paris, France), Honorary Fellow of the “Institut Universitaire de France” – IUF- and Fellow of the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering. He is the president of the ESI Group scientific committee and director of its scientific department. He was (2008-2012) AIRBUS Group chair professor and since 2013 he is ESI Group chair professor on advanced modeling and simulation of materials, structures, processes and systems. He received many scientific awards (among them the IACM Fellow award, then the IACM Zienkiewicz award (New York, 2018), the ESAFORM award. He is author of more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and more than 1000 contributions in conferences. He was president of the French association of computational mechanics (CSMA) during 8 years, chair of the WCCM in Paris (2020)

Director of the CNRS research group (GdR) on model order reduction techniques in engineering sciences, editor and associate editor of many journals. He received many distinctions, among them the Academic Palms, the French Order of Merit in 2018, the Doctorate Honoris Causa at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and in 2019 the Silver medal from the French CNRS. He is the director of the DESCARTES project on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence that the CNRS develops in its hub at Singapore (35 M€, 5 years and more than 160 researchers).

Hrvoje Jasak

Hrvoje Jasak is currently a full Professor of Continuum Physics at the University of Cambridge. He earned his first degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Zagreb in 1992 and obtained his PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) from Imperial College London, under the guidance of Prof. A.D. Gosman, between 1993 and 1996. Following his academic pursuits, he was a Senior Development Engineer at CD-adapco (now Siemens PLM) from 1996 to 2000. Subsequently, he served as the Technical Director at Nabla Ltd from 2000 to 2006 and contributed to cutting-edge software development at Ansys-Fluent Inc. from 2000 to 2008.

In addition to his current role at the University of Cambridge, Hrvoje holds a Professorship at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and a Mercator Fellowship at TU Darmstadt, Germany. He is renowned as one of the two original co-authors of OpenFOAM and serves as the Chair of the OpenFOAM Numerics Technical Committee, as well as a distinguished member of the OpenFOAM Governance Steering Committee.
Hrvoje’s research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including numerical simulation methods, mathematical modeling of continuum phenomena, numerical mathematics, numerical modeling in multi-phase and free surface flows, naval hydrodynamics, wave modeling, dynamic mesh handling, error estimation, mesh adaptivity, and practical software development. His extensive experience also extends to the numerical modeling of complex heat and mass transfer systems and multi-physics applications.
With a programming career spanning 25 years, Hrvoje is a seasoned professional in C++ and object-oriented software design. He specializes in high-performance computing, linear algebra on HPC platforms, and related subjects. Over the course of his career, he has successfully managed large software projects and wrote approximately 1 million lines of C++ source code.
